Made to Order

A majority of the products that you see on our website are made to order. The average manufacturing time frame is 5-8 days but for some elaborate products (Chitralekha series sarees, discharge printing over hand-dyed base, shibori printing etc.) require additional time frame. The process of manufacturing involves a complex routine of preparation, dyeing, drying, steaming, washing and polishing. All of these (except the steaming process) is hand done using traditional methods that have been passed on from one generation to the other. The weather also plays a critical role in all this as without proper sunlight and a favourable dry weather the dyes and prints never imbibes with the threads.

All our Chitralekha series sarees and a few other categories are pre-made and mostly pre-booked. Only a few get listed on our website. Such sarees that are ready to dispatch are marked as ‘Dispatches in 1 working day.‘ Majority of the block printed, screen printed and kalamkari sarees, however, are made to order and the tentative dispatch time is mentioned on the details page of each saree. We request you to check the dispatch time when ordering so as to avoid any confusion.

Each of our sarees are a labour of love that takes time to weave, print, paint and stitch. These pieces are not products of machinery but the heartfelt creations of skilled artisans. We collaborate with a community of weavers, painters, dyers, and stitching experts from rural Bengal, many of whom have honed their craft over generations. A core aspect of our mission is to uplift their livelihoods and contribute to their financial well-being, ensuring their invaluable traditions thrive. As such, there is no way to ‘expedite’ the process—each saree tells its own unique story, one that unfolds with patience and care.

Colour Accuracy

The colour of the product(s) may vary as per the screen resolution of your phone, brightness settings and the colour cast of the screen and any ambient light. Majority of our products are photographed in natural light. But we also shoot images indoors using artificial lights. Additionally, all our pure silk sarees are either hand-dyed, hand block printed or hand painted. There is no way to make the colour 100% same saree after saree. That means, there is always going to be a difference in the colour that you see on your mobile/computer screen vs the actual product. Please keep a tolerance of 5-7% in terms or colour accuracy. We do not offer any returns or exchanges for 5-7% colour accuracy variations.

Product Care

Silk Sarees

  • Avoid hand-washing or machine-washing silk sarees, as this can damage the fabric.
  • Always opt for dry cleaning when cleaning silk sarees.
  • Never dry a silk saree in direct sunlight, as it can cause the colours to fade.
  • Do not leave the saree bundled up, as it may cause the embroidery threads to tangle.
  • Wrap the saree in a breathable cotton muslin cloth to ensure proper air circulation and to prevent it from adhering to other sarees when stacked.
  • Avoid using plastic covers for storage

Ordering

How do I know once my order is confirmed?

Upon successful authorization of your payment and completion of your order, Sarmistha Creations will send you an email confirming the placement of your order. This email will include the Order Number, order details, and the amount paid. Additionally, you will receive an SMS confirming the transaction.

I’ve already made a purchase. Is it possible to include additional items in the existing order?

Certainly, feel free to contact us at info@sarmisthacreations.com, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

I want to place my order on phone/WhatsApp

We don’t process orders over the phone/WhatsApp. You may ask for additional information about the product in order to decide. But we cannot take your orders over the phone/WhatsApp. You have to place your order yourself.

Why COD option is not available at my pincode?

While we would love to bring cash on delivery option to all pincodes across India, there are some locations where the facility is unavailable. Rest assured we are working to make sure that those pincodes are covered in the future. At the moment COD orders are available in selected pincodes accross India. This list of pincodes may change from time to time depending on our courier partners.

We do not offer COD option for international orders. Additionally, cash on delivery option is unavailable for orders above a certain value. This keeps changing so, please check your cart to confirm.

Order verification call

We will make a verification call to verify your order (applicable only for COD orders). A total of three attempts will be made to verify the order. If we are unable to verify your order on call even after three attempts the order will be put on HOLD.

Do you charge anything extra for COD?

There is a 2.5% extra charge for Cash on Delivery orders. COD charge is non-refundable in the event of returns.

Shipping and Delivery

What is the estimated delivery time?

Delivery times differ between cities. Generally, it takes 3-4 days for all metros and Tier 1 cities. Tier 2 and 3 cities may require an additional 1-2 days. Certain locations like North East India and J&K could take a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 7 days. There may be unforeseen circumstances such as regional holidays, disruption in transport etc. which may further delay your purchase to arrive at your doorstep. Rest assured, we will make every effort to ensure prompt delivery of your shipment.

Can you deliver my order on a particular date?

No. We cannot promise that your order will be delivered on a particular date. If you are going to be out of town, or cannot receive your order, we request you to place your order when you are available to receive it. However, you are out of town on an emergency and your package has not been shipped already, you can ask us to put it on hold and request to dispatch on or after a particular date. Please notify us as soon as you can if such an emergency arises and we will look into it. We cannot help you if the package has already been handed over to our courier partner.

How do you ship?

We dispatch through reputable courier partners, all of whom are well-established logistics service providers. After shipment, you’ll receive an email with details about the courier partner and an AWB number, allowing you to track your shipment. WhatsApp messages will also be sent to your registered number at every stage informing you of the movement of the shipment. This is why we insist that you enter your WhatsApp number when placing your order.

What is the shipping charge?

Shipping charge is currently FREE for all saree orders across India. For other items like hand-made jewellery pieces etc. shipping charges will be applicable.

Are all pincodes covered?

We have tie-ups wth multiple leading logistics partners and together almost 99% of the pincodes are served. In the event they are unable to service your pincode we will ship using India Post. Please note COD orders are not possible to be fulfilled using India Post. We will contact you in such a rare event. If you are unwilling to convert the order to a prepaid one we will cancel the order.

I reside outside India. Will you be able to deliver to me?

We do international shipments. Except for the following three locations – Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. We don’t do COD shipments for international orders.

What is the shipping charge for International shipments?

This depends on case to case basis. Please contact us on info@sarmisthacreations.com with your delivery address and we will confirm you.

Are there any additional charges for international shipment?

Any applicable custom charges or any other additional charges will have to be borne by you. If you are in the EU your package will be liable for VAT as per the new rules that came into effect on July 1, 2021.

Would you do a partial shipment of my order?

This is only applicable when you order contains more than one items. In order to reduce tracking and logistical hassles we will try to ship all items in your order at the same time. Only in the occassion where some of your items are ready much earlier than the others we may ship them out. You will receive a separate email for each such shipment alongwith separate AWB allowing you to track those shipments. At any time if you need more clarity on the status of your order simply give us a call and we will be happy to help you.

Is it possible to ship a part of my order to another address?

At this point of time we do not have that option to split an order and send it to more than one addresses. You will need to place more than one orders if you wish to send them to more than one addresses.

I made a mistake in my delivery address, can I change it?

If your shipment has not been dispatched you may. In such a situation we can try to remidy the issue by coordinating with our dispatch team. However, if the shipment has already been dispatched the address cannot be changed. If any shipment has been returned because of incorrect address we can reship the product to the correct address. However, please note shipping charges are applicable for reshipping the product. We will notifty you how to make the additional payment for reshipping the product. If you wish to get a refund then shipping charges will be deducted before refunding the amount.

How can I track my order?

When your order is shipped out we will send you an email/WhatsApp confirmation. The email/WhatsApp will contain the tracking AWB number and the link to track your shipment. We work with some of the leading courier companies in India. Please note that any tracking number shared can take upto 24 hours to start showing any activity. For convenience of communication and easy tracking we urge you to enter a mobile number that you use for both calling and WhatsApp. This will help us to reach you by either option if necessary.

Can I inspect the contents of the package before making payment to the delivery boy (COD)/Open packet delivery?

Unfortunately no. Cash on delivery orders are handed over to you only when you make the payment for the same to the delivery boy. Open-packet delivery is not possible for COD orders.

Payment

What are the available modes of payment?

We offer a range of payment options including all credit/debit cards, UPI, netbanking and e-wallets. We also offer EMI facility to select card holders. All these are processed via our secure payment gateway provider and are completely safe. Alternatively, you may also pay using NEFT and IMPS payments. Please send us an email on info@sarmisthacreations.com and we will send you the payment instructions.

My payment got debited but I did not receive any email/order confirmation

Order numbers are generated and an email is sent only on the event a payment is successfully received by us. In case your payment has been debited and no order confirmation email is received please share the details with us via email and we will look into it. Rest assured if we don’t receive the payment it will get reimbursed back to you automatically.

I tried making a payment and it failed. What should I do?

Get in touch with us. This may happen at times due to issues in technology. You may also wait for sometme before re-initiating the payment.

My order was cancelled due to payment failure. I want to confirm my order.

If you attempted to make a payment and place your order but could not, we urge you to retry after some time. Sometimes, because of issues in technology this can happen. You can log into your account and check the status of your order and your payment.

Money debited but order not confirmed

If money has been debited from your account, do not try to place a fresh order. Please contact us stating your registered phone number, email, billing address, and details of the products and we will confirm the status of the payment. Sometimes due to technical glitches in the payment gateway, this can happen. We will check from the backend to confirm if your payment has been received. For payments not received by us, it is auto reverted back to the source after 2-5 working days. We can only confirm status of a payment that has been successfully captured by our payment gateway systems.

Order auto-cancelled due to non-payment

Our systems are designed to automatically cancel out unpaid/payment failed orders after some time. But don’t worry. You can try making the payment after 2 hours. Please note we can only guide you to place the order and won’t be able to take the order on phone/WhatsApp.
